Century Marathon and ½ Marathon Training Runs Scheduled (Oswego County Today)
Continuing each Sunday, beginning at 7:00 am a series of training runs will be available to those interested in training for the Century Marathon and ½ Marathon scheduled for October 11, 2009. Your training run trainers are Sam Familo and Beth (Wells) Foederer.

Newtown Runners Race In Half Marathon (Newtown Bee)
FAIRFIELD — Competing with top-notch runners from the area, out of the area — and, in some instances, really far out of the area — several Newtown residents participated in the Fairfield Half Marathon, the biggest race of the Stratton Faxon Fairfield Road Race event, on June 28. Runners also participated in the 5K and 1K Fun Run for children.

My entrance into the running world started simply. Five years ago, I remember carrying my son Brendan up a flight of stairs and barely being able to make it to the top without gasping for air. I was overweight and out of shape. The next day, I enrolled at a gym, got on a treadmill and ran one mile in 11 minutes.

Fairfield fields runners at Stratton Faxon Half Marathon (The Fairfield Citizen)
How big was Sunday's Stratton-Faxon Fairfield Half Marathon for Fairfielders? Participation-wise, it was enormous. According to pre-registration numbers, 407 residents ran the 13.1-mile course that started at Jennings Beach and snaked its way through Greenfield Hill.

We are excited to provide ALARC members and the Minnesota running community with a web site with some great features!  If you are a member of ALARC, don't forget to create a login (by clicking on Register in the upper right corner!). Once we verify that you are a current member, you will have access to our Members Only features, which include the directory, copies of ALARC's Weekly Newsletter from Kathy and Todd's Weekly Runs email.  Students of the Marathon Training Program can log in and interact with facilitators and other students to make the most of their training time.

The Active Life and Running Club is an organization that believes physical fitness is an essential aspect of living a healthy lifestyle. As the largest marathon running club in America, we promote this philosophy through organized events and social functions. We offer organized long and short runs; track and hill workouts; group trips to distant marathons; and various cross training activities. In addition, for the past 24 years we have offered the most successful Marathon Training Program in the U.S. It is designed to educate, train, and support individuals interested in completing their first marathon. This program has trained over 2200 hopeful marathoners from the ages of 16-73 and only nine have not completed their first marathon.
