The ALARC Ice Dive is an annual event started in 1990. Join us for our 31st Anniversary Dive!  Jump into Lake Minnetonka to wake you up on New Year's Day! Great Annual Tradition with major bragging rights and contribution to wonderful charities!

Schedule

jump_into_2021_at_the_alarc_ice_dive.pdfThe ALARC Ice Dive will be held in Lake Minnetonka from the shoreline at the public docks in Excelsior at 395 Lake Street right behind the Port of Excelsior.   Due to COVID-19, all registrations will be online.  This event will be Drive-Up, Dive, and Drive-Away this year.  We recommend having a friend drive you to the event and drive you home after finishing your dive.If you want to drive yourself, there are a limited number of parking spots available in downtown Excelsior.  When you are done, there will be one of our famous Breakfast Burritos to take with you.

The event will start at 8:30 am and is expected to finish by 10:00 am.  In order to social distance the divers, please respect the following schedule by Fish Level:  If your group has divers from different levels, please arrive at the time of the most senior diver.

Dive Times:
8:30 – 8:45 Polar Bears, Orcas, Sharks
8:45 – 9:00 Barracudas
9:00 – 9:15 Muskies, Northerns, Walleyes
9:15 – 9:45 Minnows, Guppies, First time divers
9:45 – 10:00 Divers that overslept, are habitually late, got lost, or partied too late on New Year's Eve
10:00  -  Last dive

You should wear the clothes you will jump in as there will be no changing rooms.  The less clothes you wear, the better.  Sweatshirts and other cotton items hold the water after the dive, and when hitting cold air, feel much colder to the diver.  Once you arrive at the dive site, head to the Dive Hole where the ALARC Ice Dive staff will guide you through the diving process.  The Excelsior Fire Department will be there to help divers across the Dive Hole with poles if you wish.  Hennepin County Hospital will have an ambulance there in case of an emergency.

For more information about the ALARC Ice Dive, please download this flyer.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, under some conditions, we will allow divers to register to dive in 2021, complete their dive, and earn their next Fish Level at another location.  If you have an interest, please contact Harley Feldman.

Breakfast

Our famous Breakfast Burrito will be available to each diver who completes this year's ALARC Ice Dive.

DOnations

ALARC hosts its Ice Dive each year to raise money for charity.  The majority of the net proceeds goes to the Wounded Warrior Project with smaller amounts to the Excelsior Fire and Police Departments for the help they provide to the divers.  If you would prefer to contribute to our charities and not dive, you can do so here.

Shark/ORCA  Robes

If you are a Barracuda 9, or have completed nine dives as a Shark, and you intend to complete your tenth or twentieth dive on January 1, 2019, to become a Shark or Orca you may be interested in purchasing a beautiful black ALARC Ice Dive Shark Robe or maroon Orca Robe.  Contact Harley Feldman here.

Costume Contest

Be sure to wear a special costume.  The top two best costumes will be awarded $50 gift certificates.

Photos

John Mallon, our outstanding photographer, will be on hand to take 3-4 photos of every dive group. These pictures can be purchased through John by emailing him at jjwmallon@me.com.
